✔️ Basic Anatomical Terminology

There are many terms when it comes to anatomy that relate to one’s position in space and how one moves through space. We’re talking about simple terms for taking the arm overhead, twisting the torso, or moving the leg backwards, etc. Knowing anatomical terms helps you to be concise while teaching and it gives you a foundation to continue your anatomy education as these terms are widely used online, in textbooks, and in countless resources. This is the perfect starting point for all other modules.

✔️ Joints, Bones and Connective Tissues

Our bodies are not mismatched pieces that happen to be in the same place at the same time. Our bodies are a unified whole, working together and bound in perfect unison. This module will cover the various types of joints, bones, and connective tissue in the body. We’ll look at functions, locations, and characteristics of these entities (need different word here). This is where you’ll start to think, “Woah, my body is smart AF.”

✔️ Muscles

This is where we’ll talk about muscle function, muscle roles, and muscular contractions. We work so hard to make our muscles stronger…but what exactly do they do and how do they work? We’ll tell you!

✔️ Range of Motion and Balance

This module can help you understand and assess yours or someone else’s range of motion, stability and mobility, and balance. This can help guide

✔️ Major Joints

Each module on a specific joint will cover the function, structures, muscles, actions, and specific considerations for your yoga practice, including: the foot, the knee, the hip, the spine, the shoulder, the elbow and forearm, the wrist and hand.

✔️ The respiratory system and breathing

We know that Pranyama is extremely important in the yoga practice. This module will explore the structures involved in breathing, the physiological processes of breath, and the different actions required to breathe. We’ll explore topics like control of breathing and nostril breathing vs. mouth breathing. Cueing the breath will never be the same!

✔️ The Nervous System

Every single thing we do, every movement, every breath, every emotional response comes from the nervous system. Regulation of our nervous system is what gives us the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, performing movements with precision comes from the ability of our nervous system to physically respond to external stimuli, consciously moving through life requires that we work with our nervous system. This module will explore…you guessed it…the nervous system! We’ll discuss the role it plays in our lives and why it’s so important for our Yoga practice.

Each module will contain videos with detailed information followed by a quiz. The quizzes are meant to refine and solidify your understanding of the topic at hand. You can complete the videos at your own pace and retake the quizzes to keep testing your knowledge!
